Connecting Rod Bearings

Usage:

Remove And Install Connecting Rod Bearings

start by:

a) remove oil pan plate

1. Turn the crankshaft until two pistons are at bottom dead center. Remove fastening nuts (1) for the connecting rod caps.

2. Remove the connecting rod caps (2). Remove the lower half of the bearings (3) from the caps.

3. Push the connecting rods away from the crankshaft, and remove upper half of the bearings (4).

4. Install the new bearings in the upper half of the connecting rods. Put clean SAE 30 oil on the crankshaft journals and bearings. Pull the connecting rods into position on the crankshaft.

5. Install the new bearings in the connecting rod caps. Put clean SAE 30 oil on the bearings, the fastening bolt threads and nut seats.

6. Put the connecting rod caps into position on the crankshaft, and install the fastening nuts.


NOTICE

When installing connecting rod cap, be sure that the number marked on side of cap is the same as and is on the same side as the number marked on the side of the connecting rod.


7. Tighten the fastening nuts to 30 ± 3 lb.ft. (4,1 ± 0,4 mkg). Put a mark on the end of each nut and bolt. Tighten the nut 90° from the mark as shown.

8. Do steps 1 to 7 again for the remainder of connecting rod bearings.
