Timing Gears And Plate

Usage:

Remove Timing Gears And Plate

start by:

a) remove timing gear cover

b) remove magneto drive

1. Turn the crankshaft until the "C" mark on the crankshaft gear is in alignment with the "C" mark on the camshaft gear.

2. Remove idler gear fastening bolts (1) and retainer (2).

3. Remove idler gear (3). Remove the bearing from the idler gear, using tool group (A).

4. Remove the camshaft gear fastening bolts (4).

5. Remove the camshaft gear, using tool group (B).

6. Remove the fastening bolts, for the timing gear plate. Remove the timing gear plate (5).

Install Timing Gears And Plate

1. Install a new gasket, for the timing gear plate.

2. Put the timing gear plate (1) into position on the engine. Install the fastening bolts and locks.

3. Cut off the bottom edge of the gasket (2). It must be even with the bottom surface of the cylinder block.

4. Install the camshaft gear and fastening bolts. The "C" mark on the camshaft gear must be in alignment with the "C" mark on the crankshaft, as shown.

5. Install the idler gear bearing, using tool group (A).

6. Install the idler gear, retainer and fastening bolts.

a) install magneto drive

b) install timing gear cover
