Oil Pump

Usage:

Remove Oil Pump

start by:

a) remove oil pan

1. Remove the suction elbow (2) for the scavenge section of the oil pump.

2. Remove the suction screen mounting bolt (1).

3. Remove the mounting bolts (3) and remove the oil pump. Weight 35 lbs. (16 kg).

Install Oil Pump

1. Fill the oil pump with clean SAE 30 oil.

2. Put the oil pump in position on the engine. Install the locks and fastening bolts.

3. Install the suction screen fastening bolt.

4. Install suction elbow for the scavenge section of the oil pump.

Disassemble Oil Pump

start by:

a) remove oil pump

1. Remove the oil pump idler gear (1). Remove bearing (2) from idler gear, using tool group (A).

2. Remove the suction bell assembly (3).

3. Remove the nut, washer, and cotter pin from the oil pump drive shaft. Install the nut even with the end of the drive shaft.

4. Pull the pump drive gear from the shaft, using tool group (C). Remove the woodruff key from the shaft.

5. Remove the end plate (4), spring, and plunger.

6. Remove the oil pump body assembly (5).

7. Remove the oil pump gears (6).

8. Remove the plate (7).

9. Remove the two shaft and gear assemblies (8).

10. Remove the bearings from the two body assemblies, using tool group (B).

Assemble Oil Pump

1. Install the bearings in the two body assemblies, using tool group (B). The inside edge of each bearing must be even with the inside surface of the pump body.

2. Put clean SAE 30 oil on the two shaft and gear assemblies (1), and install them in the oil pump body (3).

3. Install the plate (2).

4. Install a woodruff key in each oil pump shaft.

5. Put clean SAE 30 oil on the scavenge oil pump gears (5), and install them on the shafts.

6. Install the oil pump body (4).

7. Install the plunger (7) and spring (6) in the body. Install the end plate.

8. Install the woodruff key in the drive shaft, and put the drive gear in position on the shaft.

9. Install the nut and washer on the shaft. Tighten the nut to 60 lb.ft. (8,3 mkg) plus the amount needed for cotter pin hole alignment. Install the cotter pin.

10. Install the suction bell assembly.

11. Install the bearing in the oil pump idler gear, using tool group (A). Install the idler gear on the oil pump.
