Magneto Drive

Usage:

Remove Magneto Drive

start by:

a) remove magneto

b) remove timing gear cover

1. Remove the fastening nut and washer for the magneto drive gear (1).

2. Remove the magneto drive gear, using tool group (A).

3. Remove the tapered sleeve from the shaft.

4. Remove the oil supply line (4) for the magneto drive.

5. Remove the fastening bolts (3), and bearing retainer for the magneto drive.

6. Remove the magneto drive (2).

Install Magneto Drive

1. Put the magneto drive into position on the engine. Install the bearing retainer (1), fastening bolts (3) and locks.

2. Install the tapered sleeve (2) on the shaft.

3. Install the drive gear on the shaft.

4. Install the fastening nut and washer for the drive gear. Install the washer with the concave side (curved in side) in the direction of the gear. Tighten the nut to 100 ± 10 lb.ft. (13,8 ± 1,4 mkg).

5. Install the oil supply line for the magneto drive.

a) install timing gear cover

b) install magneto

Disassemble Magneto Drive

1. Remove the magneto drive shaft (1).

2. Remove the cover (2) from the magneto drive housing.

3. Remove the fastening nut (6), for the bearing and gear.

4. Pull the shaft (4) free from the gear (5) and bearing.

5. Remove the shaft and bearing from the drive housing.

6. Remove the bearing from the shaft, using a press.

7. Remove the service meter (3) from the drive housing.

8. Remove the large bearing for the magneto drive shaft.

9. Remove the small bearing for the magneto drive shaft, using tool (A) as shown.

Assemble Magneto Drive

1. Install the small bearing for the magneto drive shaft, using tool group (A).

2. Install the large bearing for the magneto drive shaft, using tool group (B).

3. Install the service meter (1) in the drive housing.

4. Push bearing (2) on the shaft, using a press.

5. Put gear (3) and bearing (4) into position in the drive housing, and install the shaft.

6. Install the lock (5) and nut (6) on the shaft.

7. Install the cover on the magneto drive housing.

8. Install the magneto drive shaft.
