Cylinder Liners

Usage:

Remove Cylinder Liners

preparatory step:

a) remove pistons

1. Drain all coolant from cylinder block.

2. Install tool setup (A) in cylinder liner. Unseat the liner from bore in cylinder block. Remove tool setup (A).

3. Install slide hammer assembly (B), and remove cylinder liner from cylinder block.

4. Install six 3/8"-16 NC forcing screws and remove the spacer plate.

Install Cylinder Liners

1. Thoroughly clean the spacer plate and mating surface of the cylinder block.

2. Install a new spacer plate gasket. Install the spacer plate.


NOTICE

Mating surfaces of spacer plate, cylinder block, and both sides of spacer plate gasket must be clean and dry. Do not apply gasket adhesives or sealing substances to these surfaces.


3. Install new O-ring seals on cylinder liner. Lubricate seals and mating bore in cylinder block with liquid soap to ease installation.

4. Apply 7M7260 Liquid Gasket Material to the underside of cylinder liner flanges that contact the cylinder block. Do not apply gasket material to the cylinder block.

5. Using plate (A), drive the cylinder liner into cylinder block.

6. Secure the cylinder liner to the block with tool setup (B). Tighten all bolts evenly to 70 ± 5 lb. ft. (9,7 ± 0,7 mkg).

7. Check the cylinder liner projection using tool group (C) as follows:

a) Using the dial indicator, block and gauge from the tool group (C), check the liner projection at four places around liner.

b) Cylinder liner projection must be .002-.006 in. (0,050-0,152 mm).
