Camshafts

Usage:

Remove Camshafts

preparatory steps:

a) remove valve cover

b) remove turbocharger

1. Rotate the crankshaft to top dead center compression stroke No. 1 piston.

2. Remove the rear lifting eye from the flywheel housing.

3. Using a 3/8"-16 NC forged eyebolt, remove the camshaft drive shaft (1).

4. Remove camshaft mounting bolts and locks (2).

5. Attach hoist and remove camshaft-weight 100 lbs. (45,3 kg).

Install Camshafts

1. Adjust all the camshaft followers in cylinder head to provide maximum valve clearance.

2. Align the camshaft phasing gear timing marks (1).

3. Attach a hoist and position the camshafts on cylinder head and install mounting bolts and locks. Make sure bearing blocks are seated properly on locating dowels.


NOTICE

Never attempt to install camshafts if the No. 1 piston is not at top dead center compression stroke. Damage to the engine may result if crankshaft is improperly positioned.


4. Install the camshaft drive shaft.

5. Install rear lifting eye on flywheel housing.

6. Adjust the inlet valve clearance to .018 in. (0,46 mm) and the exhaust valve clearance to .030 in. (0,76 mm).

a) install turbocharger

b) install valve cover
