Auxiliary Water Pump

Usage:

Remove Auxiliary Water Pump

1. Loosen the auxiliary water pump outlet pipe hose clamp (2).

2. Remove auxiliary water pump mounting bolts (3).

3. Remove auxiliary water pump (1).

Install Auxiliary Water Pump

1. Position auxiliary water pump on engine, and install mounting bolts.

2. Tighten auxiliary water pump outlet pipe hose clamp.

Disassemble Auxiliary Water Pump

preparatory step:

a) remove auxiliary water pump

1. Remove body-to-housing retaining nuts (1).

2. Remove body (3) from housing (2).

3. Back the gear retaining nut flush with end of shaft. Install tool setup (A) and remove the gear. Remove key from shaft.

4. Back the impeller retaining nut off flush with the end of shaft. Install tool setup (B) and remove impeller (4).

5. Remove spring, woodruff key, shim and carbon seal.

6. Using pliers (C), remove bearing retaining ring. Use a soft hammer to drive shaft and bearing out of pump body.

7. Remove bearing and spacer from shaft.

8. Remove the lip-type seal and ceramic ring from body.

Assemble Auxiliary Water Pump

1. Using tool setup (A), install the seal in the housing with lip of seal toward bearings.

2. Install bearings (2) and spacer (3) on shaft.

3. Install shaft assembly, and slinger (1) in housing. Use a piece of plastic or shim stock to guide shaft through the lip seal.

4. Using pliers (B), install bearing retaining ring.

5. Install the ceramic ring inside the rubber with the polished surface of ceramic ring toward carbon part of seal. Coat the rubber ring around the ceramic ring with liquid soap and install in water pump housing. Use hand pressure only to install seal. Make sure the ceramic ring and rubber are seated evenly.

6. Install carbon part of seal, shim, woodruff key, spring and impeller on shaft. Install retaining nut.

7. Position body on housing and install retaining nuts.
