Timing Gear Plate

Usage:

Remove Timing Gear Plate

preparatory steps:

a) remove jacket water pump

b) remove timing gears

c) remove magneto drive

d) remove camshafts

1. Position a suitable rectangular spacer (1) inside camshaft drive bearing as shown. Install tool setup (A) and remove bearing.

2. Remove the four camshaft housing-to-camshaft drive gear bearing cage retaining bolts.

3. Remove camshaft drive gear bearing cage (2). Remove timing gear oil supply line (3).

4. Install a 3/8"-16NC forged eyebolt. Attach hoist and remove timing gear plate-weight 60 lbs. (22,6 kg).

Install Timing Gear Plate

1. Install a new timing gear plate-to-cylinder block gasket. Trim the gasket flush with oil pan face of cylinder block.

2. Attach hoist and install timing gear plate, retaining bolts and locks.

3. Install camshaft drive gear bearing cage, retaining nuts, and locks.

4. Install four camshaft housing-to-camshaft drive gear bearing cage retaining bolts (1).

5. Align oil hole in camshaft drive gear bearing with oil hole in camshaft drive gear bearing cage. Using tool setup (A), install camshaft drive gear bearing in bearing cage, recessed .06 in. (1,52 mm) from bearing cage outer face.

6. Install timing gear oil supply line.

concluding steps:

a) install camshaft

b) install magneto drive

c) install timing gears

d) install jacket water pump
