Usage:
preparatory steps:
a) remove flywheel
b) remove turbocharger
c) remove auxiliary water pump
d) remove governor drive group
1. Remove starter.
2. Remove the oil pan-to-flywheel housing mounting bolts (3).
3. Loosen the remaining oil pan and oil pan plate mounting bolts.
4. Attach a hoist and raise the rear of engine. Install spacers (2) between oil pan plate and cylinder block on both sides of the engine and lower engine onto stand.
5. Remove timing gear plate-to-flywheel housing mounting bolts (1) from left side of engine.
6. Remove engine oil cooler-to-flywheel housing mounting bolts (4). Remove timing gear plate-to-flywheel housing mounting bolts from right side of engine.
7. Remove the three long bolts from the engine rear lifting bracket.
8. Attach a hoist and remove flywheel housing mounting bolts (5). Remove flywheel housing-weight 400 lbs. (181 kg).
NOTE: If oil pan plate gasket was damaged during removal of flywheel housing, it will be necessary to remove oil pan and oil pan plate in order to replace gasket.
9. Remove flywheel housing lifting eye.
10. Using tool setup (A), remove bearing from flywheel housing.
Install Flywheel Housing
1. Using tool setup (A), install bearing in flywheel housing.
2. Install lifting eye (1) to flywheel housing.
3. Install a new flywheel housing-to-timing gear plate gasket. Trim gasket flush with oil pan face of cylinder block.
4. Position flywheel housing (2) on engine and install mounting bolts.
5. Install three long bolts in engine rear lifting bracket.
6. Install timing gear plate-to-flywheel housing retaining bolts on right and left sides of engines.
7. Install eight engine oil cooler-to-flywheel housing mounting bolts.
8. Attach a hoist and raise rear of engine. Remove spacers between cylinder block and oil pan plate. Lower engine onto stand.
9. Install oil pan-to-flywheel housing mounting bolts. Tighten remaining oil pan and oil pan plate mounting bolts.
