Usage:
preparatory step:
a) remove oil pan
NOTE: It will be necessary to remove the oil pump in order to remove the No. 7 or No. 8 piston connecting rod bearings. If the No. 1 or No. 2 piston connecting rod bearings are to be removed, it will be necessary to first remove the front sump pickup tube.
1. Rotate the crankshaft clockwise (as viewed from the front of engine) until connecting rod cap is in position for removal.
2. Remove the connecting rod cap retaining bolts (1). Remove cap and lower half of bearing. Remove bearing from cap.
3. Push the connecting rod away from crankshaft and remove upper half of bearing.
4. Install upper half of new connecting rod bearing in connecting rod. Lubricate the bearing and crankshaft journal with clean SAE 30 engine oil.
5. Install lower half of new bearing in cap. Lubricate bearing with clean SAE 30 engine oil.
6. Lubricate the threads of retaining bolts with 9M3710 Anti-Seize Compound.
7. Position the connecting rod bearing cap and install retaining bolts. Tighten both bolts initially to 90 ± 5 lb. ft. (12,5 ± 0,7 mkg). Mark end of bolt and bearing cap. Tighten each bolt an additional 120° ± 5° (from mark) after initial tightening.
8. Repeat above Steps for each remaining connecting rod bearing.
