Timing Gears

Usage:

Remove Timing Gears

start by:

a) remove timing gear housing

1. Remove the bolts, lock, retainer, and idler gear (3) for the accessory drive shaft.

2. Use tool setup (A) to remove the bearing from idler gear (3).

3. Remove the bolts, lock, retainer, and idler gear (2) for the camshaft drive.

4. Use tool setup (A) to remove the bearing from the idler gear (2).

5. Remove the bolts, lock, retainer, and idler gear (1) for the air compressor.

6. Use tool setup (A) to remove the bearing from idler gear (1).

7. Remove the bolts, lock, retainer, and drive gear (4) for the accessory drive shaft.

8. Remove the bolts, lock, retainer, and cluster gear (5).

9. Use tool setup (B) to remove the bearing from cluster gear (5).

Install Timing Gears

1. Use tool setup (B) to install the bearing in cluster gear.

2. Put cluster gear (1) in position on engine with the "V" mark on cluster gear in alignment with the "V" mark on crankshaft gear. Install the retainer, lock, and bolts for gear.

3. Install the drive gear, retainer, lock, and bolts for accessory drive shaft. Leave the bolts loose. Make an adjustment to the timing of the camshaft for fuel injection pump after engine has been assembled. See FUEL INJECTION PUMP CAMSHAFT TIMING in TESTING AND ADJUSTING.

4. Use tool setup (A) to install the bearings in the idler gears for the air compressor, camshaft, and accessory drive shaft.

5. Install the three idler gears, retainers, lock, and bolts in timing gear housing.
