Magneto Drive

Usage:

Disassemble Magneto Drive

preparatory step:

a) remove magneto drive

1. Remove magneto drive coupling (4).

2. Remove service meter (3) from housing assembly (5).

3. Remove retaining bolts (2) and separate adapter assembly (1) from housing assembly (5).

4. Using tool setup (A), remove magneto drive coupling bearing from housing assembly (5).

5. Remove seal (7), seal retainer (6) and bearing from housing assembly.

6. Remove the drive gear retaining nut, washer and lock. Reinstall nut flush with end of shaft. Using tool setup (B), remove the drive gear (8). Remove woodruff key from drive gear shaft.

7. Remove retaining bolts from thrust plate. Remove thrust plate and shaft assembly from adapter assembly (1).

8. Remove retaining nut (9) and lock from shaft assembly. Remove gear and key from shaft.

9. Using tool setup (C), remove bearing from adapter assembly (1).

10. Remove magneto drive coupling pilot bearing from adapter assembly (1).

Assemble Magneto Drive

1. Using tool setup (A), install magneto drive coupling pilot bearing in adapter assembly.

2. Using tool setup (B), install bearing in adapter assembly.

3. Install key, gear, lock and retaining nut on shaft.

4. Position shaft assembly in adapter assembly. Install thrust plate (1), lock and retaining bolts.

5. Heat drive gear in oil to maximum 300° F (149° C). Install key and drive gear on drive shaft. Install flat washer, lock and retaining nut on drive shaft.

6. Using tool setup (C), install magneto drive coupling bearing (2) in housing assembly.

7. Using tool setup (D), install seal in seal retainer. Using tool setup (D), install seal retainer in housing assembly so face of retainer extends .20 in. (5,1 mm) above housing assembly.

8. Position housing assembly (4) on adapter assembly (3) and install retaining bolts (5).

9. Install service meter (6) on housing assembly (4).

10. Install magneto drive coupling in housing.
