Governor Drive

Usage:

Remove Governor Drive Group

preparatory step:

a) remove governor

1. Remove crankcase breather tube (1).

2. Remove three retaining bolts (2).

3. Remove governor drive group (3).

Install Governor Drive Group

1. Position governor drive on flywheel housing and install retaining bolts.

2. Install crankcase breather tube.

concluding step:

a) install governor

Disassemble Governor Drive Group

preparatory step:

a) remove governor drive group

1. Bend the lock and remove retaining bolt (3) and retainer (1) from idler gear.

2. Remove idler gear (2) and thrust washers (4).

3. Remove mounting bolts (5) from drive adapter and remove drive adapter (6).

4. Remove plate retaining bolts and remove retaining plate.

5. Install puller setup (A) and remove gear.

6. Remove cover from shaft.

7. Remove key from shaft. Using a soft hammer, drive shaft (9), spacer (8), bearing (7), and seal out of housing.

8. Remove bearing retaining ring from housing and remove bearing.

Assemble Governor Drive Group

1. Install front bearing. Using tool (A), install bearing retaining rings.

2. Install bearing, shaft, and spacer in housing.

3. Install shaft cover.

4. Heat gear in oil to 300° F (149° C) and install key and gear on shaft.

5. Install gear retaining plate and mounting bolt.

6. Position drive adapter on dowels and install retaining bolts.

7. Install inside thrust washer, idler gear, outside thrust washer, washer assembly, lock, and retaining bolt.
