Crankshaft Gear

Usage:

Remove And Install Crankshaft Gear

start by:

a) remove crankshaft rear seal and wear sleeve

1. Turn the crankshaft so key (1) is in the location shown.

2. Install tooling (A) with drill bushing (2) in alignment with key (1).

3. Install tooling (B). Hold tooling (B) in place with tape.

4. Put rags around crankshaft gear so chips can not get into the engine crankcase.

5. Put tape around a 9/32" (7.1 mm) carbide drill 3/4" (19.05 mm) from end of drill.

6. Drill to a depth of 3/4" (19.05 mm).


NOTICE

Do not drill through the gear. Use cutting oil on drill while drilling.


7. Remove tooling (A) and (B).

8. Use a chisel and break the gear near the key.

9. Remove the crankshaft gear.

10. Heat the new gear (4) to no more than 400°F(204°C) and install the gear on the crankshaft.

NOTE: Before installing the gear (4) see that key (1) is in position in crankshaft.

end by:

a) install crankshaft gear wear sleeve.
