NOTE: | This Containment Program can be administered either before or after a failure occurs. In either case the decision whether to apply the Program is made by the dealer and service rep. Obtain the service reps Goodwill Approver Code before completing the repair. EAME dealers should use their standard Industry Group specific goodwill approval codes. The Goodwill Approver Code must be included when submitting the claim. |
NOTE: | When reporting the repair, use "PS90937" as the Part Number and "7777" as the Group Number. If administered before failure, use "56" as Warranty Claim Description and "T" as the SIMS Description Code. If administered after failure, use "96" as Warranty Claim Description Code and use "Z" as the SIMS Description Code. |

PROBLEM
The existing upper strut mounting area can develop a fatigue crack on certain 773E Off-Highway Trucks. If the existing support assembly fails a fatigue crack will develop in the fillet weld toe. |

ACTION REQUIRED
Inspect the frame every 1000 hours or 6 months as per the Operator Maintenance Manual. Use Special Instruction M0074926 procedure to inspect the frame of 773E Off-Highway trucks to ensure the area is free from cracks. If cracks are found the cracks need to be repaired according to REHS1841 General Welding Procedure. If no cracks are found and after the repair, TIG dress the fillet welds around the upper strut mounting area, refer to Reuse and Salvage Guidelines SEBD0512 for TIG toe dressing instructions. |

Before failure this is a 4.0-hours labor per side and up to $100 for welding consumables can be claimed for TIG dressing the upper strut mounting area. After failure a maximum of 32 hours labor and up to $800 for welding consumables can be claimed to rework the frame if cracks have been found. The $800 includes the TIG toe dressing allowance. Subsequent frame weld failures in this area can not be claimed on this letter. |
