The existing Product Identification Number (PIN) Plate, bonded to the front frame, does not meet legal requirements on certain 950M and 962M Medium Wheel Loaders. The existing PIN Plate contains incorrect information with extra text in the MODEL Field. The MODEL field shows extra text "2017BUNDLE" along with model number, instead of model number only (950M or 962M).

The existing Product Identification Number (PIN) Plate with wrong text will need to be replaced and a new PIN Plate installed.

1. Order a new PIN Plate. Refer to "Obtaining the new Product Identification Number (PIN) Plate", below. The new PIN Plate will be shipped directly to the dealer from Caterpillar Medium Wheel Loader Product Support Team.

NOTE: The new PIN Plate will come with CE Stamping already attached.

NOTE: The existing PIN Plate that is removed needs to be destroyed upon installation of new PIN Plate. Attach photos showing the new PIN Plate on the machine in the SIMSi claim. Cut the removed PIN Plate into smaller pieces and also attach photos of destroyed PIN Plate in the SIMSi claim.

***Obtaining the new Product Identification Number (PIN) Plate:

To request new PIN Plate containing the correct model information, please contact the Caterpillar EAME MWL Product Support Team with following records:

- Machine Serial Number
- Dealer Code
- Dealer Contact Name
- Phone Number
- Shipping Address for new PIN Plate

Upon receipt of the machine and dealer information, the new PIN Plate will be shipped directly to the dealer specified contact and address.

Refer to the attached Rework Procedure for installation of the new PIN Plate.

The existing Product Identification Number (PIN) Plate bonded to the front frame does not meet legal requirements on the products listed below. The existing PIN Plate contains incorrect information with extra text in the MODEL Field. The MODEL field shows extra text "2017BUNDLE" along with model number instead of model number only (950M or 962M). You will not be charged for the service performed.

Contact your local Cat dealer immediately to schedule this service. The dealer will advise you of the time required to complete this service.

If you are no longer the owner of this product(s), please contact your local Cat dealer so that our records can be updated. Please refer the dealer to their Service Letter dated 20Nov2018 when scheduling this service.

Rework Procedure

1. Remove the existing PIN Plate bonded to the left hand (LH) side of front frame (non-engine frame). Image1.1.1 shows location of the existing PIN Plate on the front frame. The existing PIN Plate is adhesive glued to the front frame and can be removed by pulling out using pliers.

2. Before applying the new adhesive PIN Plate ensure that the surface is clean and free of dirt, oils, greases, or other contaminants.

Note: For lightly soiled surfaces, a 50:50 mixture of isopropyl alcohol (IPA) and water are considered adequate cleaning agents.

Note: For surfaces where heavy oils or greases are present, a degreasing agent such as heptane, mineral spirits, or naphtha are suggested. After cleaning with a degreasing agent, follow with IPA and water mixture to remove the degreasing agent.

3. Wipe the surface with a clean, lint-free paper towel to remove all contaminants and allow the surface to dry before installing the new PIN Plate.

NOTE: The new PIN Plate should only be applied to the front frame surface between 4 degrees Celsius and 32 degrees Celsius temperature (39 degrees Fahrenheit to 90 degrees Fahrenheit). Use of a heat gun to warm the substrate surface is recommended if the surface temperature is below 4 degrees Celsius (39 degree Fahrenheit). Be aware that adhesives will be much more aggressive at temperatures near and above 32 degree Celsius (90 degree Fahrenheit).

4. Before installing new PIN Plate on the machine, confirm that the machine serial number on the new PIN Plate matches the machine serial number on the PIN Stamping at left hand (LH) side of front frame, as shown in Image1.1.1.

5. Install the new PIN Plate at the same location as the previous removed PIN Plate on the front frame. Align the left edge of the new PIN Plate with left edge of the PIN Stamping on the front frame, as shown in Image1.1.2. The bottom of new PIN Plate is located 15mm (0.6in) above the top of the PIN Stamping on front frame, as shown in Image1.1.2.

6. Remove the release liner from the back of the new PIN Plate and apply the new PIN Plate to the front frame surface. Press the new PIN Plate firmly into place.

7. Apply touch-up paint, if required, around the new PIN Plate in case of any paint damage during installation.
