Oil Pump

Usage:

Remove Oil Pump

preparatory step:

a) remove oil pan

1. Remove the oil pump retaining bolts (1) and locks.

2. Remove the oil pump assembly-weight 55 lbs. (25 kg).

Install Oil Pump

1. Position the oil pump on the engine.

2. Install the oil pump retaining bolts and locks.

concluding step:

a) install oil pan

Disassemble Industrial Engine Oil Pump

preparatory step:

a) remove oil pump

1. Remove the cotter pin and loosen gear retaining nut (2). Using tool setup (A), separate the oil pump drive gear (3) from shaft. Remove tool setup (A), nut, washer and gear. Remove the woodruff key from shaft.

2. Remove the suction bell assembly (1). Remove the oil pump bypass valve cover and spacer.


NOTICE

Back off the cover retaining bolts slowly until spring tension is relieved.


3. Remove the bypass valve spring and plunger.

4. Remove the pump housing retaining bolts and separate housing (4) and (7). Remove two oil pump gears (6) and woodruff key from the oil pump shafts. Remove spacer plate (9), shaft assembly (8) and gear (5).

Assemble Industrial Engine Oil Pump

1. Lubricate the shafts and gears with clean SAE 30 engine oil. Install the oil pump shaft assembly and gear. Install the spacer plate.

2. Install the woodruff key in the shaft and place both gears on the shafts. Connect housing (1) and (2). Install the pump housing retaining bolts.

NOTE: The oil pump gears must rotate freely after the housing bolts have been tightened.

3. Lubricate bypass valve plunger (3), spring (5), spacer (6) and cover (7). Install the suction bell assembly (4).

4. Install the woodruff key and oil pump drive gear (8). Install the gear retaining nut (9). Tighten the retaining nut to 100 lb. ft. (13,8 mkg) plus amount needed to install cotter pin.

Disassemble Marine Engine Oil Pump

preparatory step:

a) remove oil pump

1. Remove pressure relief valve exhaust tube (6).

2. Remove suction tube and screen assembly (3).

3. Remove the pressure relief valve housing (5). Remove plunger (1), spring (4), and spacer (2) from valve housing (5).

4. Remove the cotter pin from the gear retaining nut. Back the gear retaining nut off flush with the end of the shaft. Install tool setup (A) and separate gear (7) from the shaft.

5. Remove the tool setup, retaining nut, gear, and woodruff key.

6. Remove the pump housing retaining bolts. Remove pump housing (8), gear (10), and shaft assembly (9).

7. Using tool setup (B), remove the bearing from the pump housing and gear.

Assemble Marine Engine Oil Pump

1. Using tool setup (A), install the bearings in the pump housings and gear.

2. Lubricate the shafts and gear with clean SAE 30 engine oil.

3. Install the gear and shaft assembly in the pump housing, and connect the pump housings.

NOTE: After the pump housing retaining bolts have been tightened the pump gears must rotate freely.

4. Install the woodruff key, drive gear and retaining nut (1). Tighten the gear retaining nut to 100 lb. ft. (13,8 mkg) plus enough to align cotter pin hole. Install cotter pin.

5. Lubricate and install the spacer, spring and plunger in the pressure relief valve housing. Install the housing assembly (3).

6. Install the pressure relief valve exhaust tube (4).

7. Install the suction tube and screen assembly (2).
