Front Cover

Usage:

Remove Front Cover

preparatory step:

a) remove crankshaft front seal

1. Remove the oil pan plate to front cover retaining bolts.

2. Loosen the remaining oil pan and plate bolts to provide enough clearance between oil pan plate and bottom of front cover.

3. Install spacers (1) on each side of engine between the oil pan plate cylinder block at the front of block.

4. Support the front of engine. Do not support engine at center of oil pan plate.

5. Remove the front cover-to-cylinder block retaining bolts (2).

6. Install one 1/2"-13NC forged eyebolt with retaining nut.

7. Attach a hoist and remove the front cover-weight 75 lb. (33 kg).

Install Front Cover

1. Install a new front cover to cylinder block gasket. Trim the gasket flush with pan face of block.

NOTE: If oil pan plate gasket was damaged during removal of front cover it will be necessary to remove the plate in order to replace entire plate gasket.

2. Position the front housing assembly on engine, and install housing-to-cylinder block retaining bolts.

3. Remove spacers between pan and block.

4. Install the oil pan-to-front cover retaining bolts. Tighten remaining oil pan plate retaining bolts.
