preparatory steps:

a) remove fuel injection pump housing & governor

b) remove fuel transfer pump

1. Remove the slip coupling access cover from the accessory drive housing and remove both coupling bolts (1) and lock.

2. Remove the variable timing unit from the accessory drive housing.

Install Variable Timing Unit

1. Place the variable timing unit (1) in the accessory drive housing.

2. Install the coupling bolts and lock. Do not tighten the coupling bolts until the engine has been timed.

concluding steps:

a) install fuel transfer pump

b) install fuel injection pump housing and governor
