PROBLEM
Incorrect final drive to housing joint 463-6062 Bolts (130mm long) may have been installed from the factory, on all four final drive to housing joints, on certain 836K Landfill Compactors. These bolts are incorrect and need to be replaced with new 2446356/">244-6356 Bolts (110mm long), on all four final drive to housing joints, to ensure full bolted joint engagement. |

ACTION REQUIRED
Note: Ensure that all safety information, warnings, and instructions are read and understood before any operation or any maintenance procedures are performed. Refer to the Operation and Maintenance Manual "Safety Section". Refer to the Service Manual if/as necessary. Remove the wheels and axle guards, as needed, in order to access the final drive bolted joints. Inspect the final drive to housing bolted joints, in at least four locations, on all four final drives. This inspection will determine which option A or B Rework Procedure will need to be completed below. A) If all four locations are inspected and 2446356/">244-6356 Bolts (110mm long) are installed in each location, replace the existing bolts with new 2446356/">244-6356 Bolts (110mm long) and tighten the new bolts to a specified torque of (375 +\- 40 N.m, then turn additional 120 +\- 10 degrees). No additional rework is required. B) If 463-6062 Bolts (130mm long) are found in any one of the four locations, complete the following steps below. Refer to Image1. Note: Change the bolts without removing Final Drive. Refer to KENR6490, Disassembly and Assembly, for the removal and installation procedures for the axle guards in order to access the final drive bolts. 1. Remove the existing 463-6062 Bolts (130mm long). 2. Install new 2446356/">244-6356 Bolts (110mm long) one at a time (25 total, per final drive). Chase threads with appropriate tap. Add Threadlocker Sealant Loctite 243 (Medium Strength) to the threads of 2446356/">244-6356 Bolts (110mm long). Follow Loctite's recommended application procedures. 3. Tighten the new 2446356/">244-6356 Bolts (110mm long) to a specified torque of (375 +\- 40 N.m, then turn an additional 120 +\- 10 degrees). |
