Exception: If the repair is done after failure, use "PI32990" as the Part Number, "7751" as the Group Number, "96" as the Warranty Claim Description Code, and "Z" as the SIMS Description Code.

Locate the existing emissions films to inspect for an incorrect power rating. The existing emissions films are at Location (A) and (B) on the machine.

Location (A) - The existing emissions film is located on the surface of the engine front housing cover at the rear end of the machine. Refer to Image1.

Location (B) - The existing emissions film is located on the surface of the after treatment (CEM) supporting frame, on the left side of the machine. Refer to Image2.

Refer to Image3 for an example of incorrect emissions films.

- If the emissions films are marked with the 200.9 kW rating, the emissions films are correct, no further rework is required.

- If the existing emissions films are marked with the 185.2 kW rating, the emissions films are incorrect, rework is required.

Contact the Caterpillar EAME MWL Product Support team with the following information to request new 349-1176 Emissions Films:

- Machine Serial Number
- Dealer Code
- Dealer Contact Name
- Phone Number
- Shipping Address for the new emissions films

Upon receipt of the new 349-1176 Emissions Films, then complete the attached Rework Procedure to remove and destroy the incorrect films, then install the correctly marked 349-1176 Emissions Films at the same locations.

Dear Cat Product Owner:

Two existing engine emissions information films need to be inspected, and possibly replaced, if they were marked incorrectly, on the products listed below. Although the actual engine power was set up accurately at the factory, the incorrectly marked films must be removed and completely destroyed as the new emissions films should be installed at the same locations. You will not be charged for the service performed.

Contact your local Cat dealer immediately to schedule this service. The dealer will advise you of the time required to complete this service.

If you are no longer the owner of this product(s), please contact your local Cat dealer so that our records can be updated. Please refer the dealer to their Service Letter dated 19Feb2019 when scheduling this service.

We regret the inconvenience this may cause you, and urge you to have this service performed as soon as possible to prevent unscheduled downtime.

Rework Procedure

1. Follow safety procedure to secure the machine with power lock down.

2. Locate the incorrect emissions films on the machine. Refer to Image1.1.1 for an example of the incorrect emissions films.

Location (A) - The existing emissions film is located on the surface of the engine front housing cover at the rear end of the machine. Refer to Image1.1.2.

Location (B) - The existing emissions film is located on the surface of the after treatment (CEM) supporting frame, on the left side of the machine. Refer to Image1.1.3.

3. Use a heat gun and blunt scraper to remove the incorrect emissions films.

4. Use an appropriate cleaning agent to remove any excess glue or dirt on the film areas to ensure that they are well prepared for the installation of the new replacement 349-1176 Emissions Films.

5. Install the new 349-1176 Emissions Films (1). Refer back to Images1.1.2 and 1.1.3.

6. Inspect, and mark as needed, box (C) to indicate the "3960" engine type.

7. Inspect, and mark box (D) "200.9 kW" to indicate the 962M engine power.

8. Completely destroy the removed incorrect emissions film. If the removed emissions films were still in one piece after the removal, they can be sent back to Caterpillar EAME Product Support team, if chosen to do so.

9. It is required by Caterpillar to provide evidence of rework, such as photos of new emission films with correct marks, before close of the issue.
