Disassemble & Assemble Pump/Pump Drive
Start By:
a. remove pump/pump drive
1. Remove drive plate (1), (if it was placed on the drive shaft), and drive shaft (2).
2. Mark the flywheel cover and the pump housing for correct alignment at assembly.
3. Remove the eight bolts and flywheel cover (3).
NOTE: Seal (4) will be destroyed when it is removed from the flywheel cover. A new seal is required for assembly.
4. Remove seal (4).
5. Remove the hose and breather (5). Remove dipstick (6) and dipstick tube (7).
NOTE: The three gears and six bearings within the pump drive are identical.
NOTE: The bearings are slip fit and do not require special tools for removal.
6. Remove one center gear (9) and two attached bearings (8).
7. Using tooling (A) and a press, remove bearing (8). Turn the gear over and remove the bearing from the other side of the gear.
NOTE: In most cases, the adapter sleeves will be removed with the pumps. However, in some cases they may remain in the gears in the pump drive. If the latter is the case, remove them at this time.
8. Turn the pump housing over and mark the two pump adapters and the pump housing for alignment during assembly.
9. Remove four bolts (10) and pump adapter (11).
NOTE: The bearings are slip fit in the housing and do not require special tools to remove.
10. Remove one gear (13) and two attached bearings (12).
11. Repeat Step 7 for gear (13) and bearing (12).
12. Repeat Steps 9, 10 and 7 for the remaining gear and the bearing that remain in the housing.
NOTE: The following steps are for the assembly of the pump/pump drive.
13. Thoroughly clean all internal parts of the pump prior to assembly.
14. Using a press and tool (B), install the six bearings into the three gears.
NOTE: The bearings are slip fit and do not require special tooling for assembly.
15. Install the two gears and the bearings into the pump side of the pump drive.
16. Apply a bead of 8T9014 General Purpose Adhesive to the pump housing where two pump adapters (11) will be bolted.
17. Line-up the markings and install the two pump adapters on the pump drive housing with the bolts.
18. Turn the pump housing over and install gear (9) with attached bearings (8).
19. Install dip stick tube (7), dipstick (6), the breather hose and breather (5).
NOTE: The new lip-seal should be pressed in from the rear side of the flywheel cover. The lip of the seal must face inward as shown.
20. Install a new lip seal (4).
21. Apply a bead of 8T9014 General Purpose Adhesive to the pump housing where flywheel cover (3) will be bolted.
22. Line-up the markings and install flywheel cover (3) and the bolts.
23. Install drive shaft (2) into the flywheel side of the pump drive.
24. Install any plugs that may have been removed during assembly.
End By:
a. install pump/pump drive
