    (9) 177-7130 Shim

  1. Remove bottom cover (7) from the oil pressure control valve group. Set aside bottom cover and associated hardware for reuse.

  1. Remove spring (8) and identify how many shims (9) are in the oil pressure control valve group.

Refer to Specifications, RENR9337, "Pressure Control Valve - Oil Regulator Valve and Oil Bypass Valve" and Disassembly and Assembly, RENR7466 for more information.

If there are more than four shims in the oil pressure control valve, proceed to Step 6.

If there are less than four shims in the oil pressure control valve, proceed to Step 11.

  1. Remove four shims (9) from the oil pressure control valve group.

    (8) 288-4597 Spring

    (10) 6V-8002 O-Ring Seal

  1. Install the original spring (8) into the oil pressure control valve group.

  1. Attach the original bottom cover and one O-ring (10) to oil pressure control valve group with the original hardware.

If possible, after the shims are removed and the oil pressure control valve group is put back together, start the engine and run under load until an engine oil temperature of 95° C (203° F ) to 100° C (212° F ) is reached.

Verify that the oil pressure is between 550 kPa (80 psi ) and 600 kPa (87 psi).

Each removed shim should result in approximately 15 kPa (2 psi ) drop in oil pressure.
