Valve Cover

Usage:

Remove Valve Cover


Typical Example

1. Remove four bolts that fasten flange (2) to aftercooler cover. Remove bolt (1) and washer from turbocharger housing. Remove pipe (3).

2. Loosen clamps (5) and slide hose on tube assembly. Remove bolt and breather assembly (4) from the valve cover. Remove O-ring seal.

3. Put a mark on the turbocharger housing and cartridge to show their angle relation to each other for assembly purposes.

4. Loosen clamps (7) and make a rotation of turbocharger housing (6). The housing opening for pipe (3) must be in the vertical position to allow for the removal of the valve cover.

5. Remove the bolts that fasten the valve cover to the cylinder head. Remove valve cover (8).

Install Valve Cover

1. Install a new gasket on the valve cover if needed. Put 5H2471 Cement on the contact surfaces of the gasket and valve cover when a new gasket is installed.

2. Put the valve cover in position on the cylinder head. Install the bolts that hold the valve cover in place. Tighten the bolts in the sequence shown to a torque of 11 ± 3 N·m (8 ± 2 lb.ft.).

3. Make a rotation of the turbocharger housing (1) to its original position and tighten clamps (2). Tighten clamps to a torque of 14 ± 1 N·m (10 ± 1 lb.ft.).

4. Install pipe (3) in position between aftercooler cover and turbocharger housing (1).

5. Install O-ring seal and bracket assembly (5) on valve cover. Tighten bolt to a torque of 14 ± 3 N·m (10 ± 2 lb.ft.). Slide hose (4) in place and tighten clamps.
