Usage:
preparatory steps:
a) remove engine and marine gear oil coolers
b) remove jacket water pump
1. Remove the engine oil cooler oil inlet elbow (1). Remove the engine right inspection plate (2).
2. Remove the engine left inspection plate (3).
3. Rotate the crankshaft clockwise (as viewed from front of engine) until connecting rod caps (4) are in position shown.
4. Remove the connecting rod caps and retaining bolts.
NOTE: Remove the No. 1,3,5 and 7 connecting rod caps through right side of cylinder block. Remove the No. 2,4,6 and 8 connecting rod caps through left side of cylinder block.
5. Remove lower half of bearings from caps.
6. Push the connecting rods away from crankshaft, and remove upper half of bearings.
7. Install upper half of new connecting rod bearings in connecting rods. Lubricate the bearings and crankshaft journal with clean SAE 30 engine oil. Pull the connecting rods into position on crankshaft.
8. Install lower half of new bearings in caps. Lubricate bearings with clean SAE 30 engine oil.
9. Lubricate the threads of retaining bolts with 9M3710 Anti-Seize Compound.
10. Position the connecting rod caps, and install retaining bolts. Tighten both bolts initially to 60 ± 5 lb. ft. (8,3 ± 0,7 mkg) and mark end of bolt and rod cap. Tighten each bolt an additional 120° b 5° from mark after initial tightening.
11. Repeat Step 3 through Step 10 for the remaining connecting rod bearings.
12. Install engine left inspection plate.
13. Install engine right inspection plate. Install engine oil cooler oil inlet elbow.
