Torque Converter - Disassemble
Disassembly Procedure

Start By:
- Separate the torque converter from the transmission. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Transmission and Torque Converter - Separate".
- Install Tooling (A), as shown. Attach a hoist and suitable chains to Tooling (A) .

- Remove six bolts (1) .
- Remove transmission cover (2) from the torque converter. The weight of the transmission cover is 150 kg (330 lb).
- Install Tooling (A), as shown. Attach a hoist and suitable chains to Tooling (A) .

- Remove eighteen bolts (2) and washers.
- Install two forcing screws, as shown.

- Separate drive gear (3) and stator carrier (4) from rotating housing (5) .
- Remove six socket head bolts (6) .

- Remove two clamp plates (7) .

- Remove retaining ring (8) .
- Carefully tap stator carrier (4) from converter impeller (9) .

- Remove seal ring (11) .

- Remove six spring pins (10) .
- Remove twelve bolts (12) .

- Remove drive gear (3) from converter impeller (9) .
- Use a suitable press to remove ball bearing (13) from converter impeller (9) .

- Remove retaining ring (14) .

- Lift converter turbine (15) from rotating housing (5) .

- Remove retaining ring (16) .

- Remove cover (17) .
- Turn over the rotating housing. Use a soft hammer in order to tap the splined hub and ball bearing (18) out of the housing.

- Remove snap ring (19) from splined hub (18) .

- If necessary, remove ball bearing (20) from splined hub (18) .
- Remove O-ring seal (21) from the outside diameter of ball bearing (20) .
- Remove d-ring seal (22) .
