Start By:

  1. Separate the torque converter from the transmission. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Transmission and Torque Converter - Separate".

  1. Install Tooling (A), as shown. Attach a hoist and suitable chains to Tooling (A) .

  1. Remove six bolts (1) .

  1. Remove transmission cover (2) from the torque converter. The weight of the transmission cover is 150 kg (330 lb).

  1. Install Tooling (A), as shown. Attach a hoist and suitable chains to Tooling (A) .

  1. Remove eighteen bolts (2) and washers.

  1. Install two forcing screws, as shown.

  1. Separate drive gear (3) and stator carrier (4) from rotating housing (5) .

  1. Remove six socket head bolts (6) .

  1. Remove two clamp plates (7) .

  1. Remove retaining ring (8) .

  1. Carefully tap stator carrier (4) from converter impeller (9) .

  1. Remove seal ring (11) .

  1. Remove six spring pins (10) .

  1. Remove twelve bolts (12) .

  1. Remove drive gear (3) from converter impeller (9) .

  1. Use a suitable press to remove ball bearing (13) from converter impeller (9) .

  1. Remove retaining ring (14) .

  1. Lift converter turbine (15) from rotating housing (5) .

  1. Remove retaining ring (16) .

  1. Remove cover (17) .

  1. Turn over the rotating housing. Use a soft hammer in order to tap the splined hub and ball bearing (18) out of the housing.

  1. Remove snap ring (19) from splined hub (18) .

  1. If necessary, remove ball bearing (20) from splined hub (18) .

  1. Remove O-ring seal (21) from the outside diameter of ball bearing (20) .

  1. Remove d-ring seal (22) .
