Transmission control (1) Speed selector spool (2) First speed solenoid valve (3) Second speed solenoid valve (4) Forward solenoid valve (5) Reverse solenoid valve (6) Direction selector spool |
The transmission control consists of a valve body with selector valve spools. Speed selector spool (1) provides three positions for each speed range: first speed, second speed and third speed. Direction selector spool (6) provides three positions: forward, neutral and reverse.
When the transmission direction and speed control lever is moved to the forward position or the reverse position an electronic signal is sent to the transmission control. When forward solenoid valve (4) or reverse solenoid valve (5) is energized, movement of the direction selector spool (6) directs oil to the appropriate direction clutch.
When the speed control switch is moved to the different speed ranges an electronic signal is sent to the transmission control. When the speed control switch is in the first speed range, first speed solenoid valve (2) and second speed solenoid valve (3) are energized. This causes the speed selector spool (1) to direct oil to the first speed clutch. When the speed control switch is in the second speed range, second speed solenoid valve (3) is energized. This causes the speed selector spool (1) to direct oil to the second speed clutch. When the speed control switch is in the third speed range, neither of the speed solenoid valves are energized. This causes the speed selector spool (1) to direct oil to the third speed clutch.
