Service Brake - Adjust

Usage:

TH103 3PN
Provision is made for adjustment of the springs in the brake disc pack. Initial adjustment of the springs in the brake disc packs should take place at 250 hours. Also, adjustment of the springs in the brake disc packs should take place after the brake disc packs have been replaced.

The front axles and the rear axles have three equally spaced adjusters for each brake pack. Only two of the adjusters are visible in Illustration 1.

1. Adjuster

  1. Park the machine on level ground. Move the transmission control to the NEUTRAL position and ensure that the parking brake is engaged.

  1. Place wheel blocks in front of the rear wheels and behind the rear wheels.

  1. Raise the boom and support the boom on a suitable stand. If the machine is equipped with boom support, refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, SEBU7371, "Boom Support".

  1. Disengage the parking brake and stop the engine.

  1. Turn each adjuster (1) counterclockwise until the adjuster bottoms. The adjuster has a square head in order to secure a wrench.

  1. Turn each adjuster (1) in a clockwise direction by 270 degrees. Hold the adjuster with a wrench as you tighten the locknuts.

  1. Start the engine. Raise the boom slightly and remove the stand. If the machine is equipped with boom support, refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, SEBU7371, "Boom Support".

  1. Engage the parking brake and remove the wheel blocks from the rear wheels.
