Usage:
Fluid Spillage Containment
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the machine. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids. Refer to "Tools And Shop Products Guide", NENG2500 for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids in Caterpillar machines. Dispose fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
1. Place tooling (B) on lift cylinder (1) as shown.
2. Remove twelve bolts (2) from cover (3).
3. Using two people, remove cover (3) from the machine. Weight of the cover is approximately 34 kg (75 lb).
4. Use tooling (A) and a hoist to support plate (4) while removing twelve bolts (5).
5. Remove plate (4).
6. Use tooling (A) and a hoist to support panel (6) while removing four bolts (7).
7. Remove panel (6).
8. Use valve (8) to drain the fuel tank into a suitable container for reuse or disposal. The capacity of the fuel tank is 231 Liters (60 U.S. Gal).
9. Remove two bolts and washers (9).
10. Remove two bolts and washers (10).
11. Remove two bolts (11) and bracket (12).
12. Disconnect electric connector (13).
13. Turn valve (14) to the OFF position and disconnect two fuel hoses (15).
14. Using two people, lift the fuel tank (16) from the machine. The weight of the EMPTY tank is 33 kg (73 lb).
NOTE: Install the fuel tank in the exact reverse order from removal.
NOTE: Place a small amount of fuel in the tank and check for leaks. If no leaks are detected, fill with the remainder of the fuel.
15. Turn the fuel shut off to the ON position.
