Usage:
At operating temperature, the engine coolant is hot and under pressure. Steam can cause personal injury. Check the coolant level only after the engine has been stopped and the fill cap is cool enough to touch with your bare hand. Remove the fill cap slowly to release the relieve pressure. Cooling system conditioner contains alkali. Avoid contact with skin and eyes to prevent personal injury. |
1. Release the pressure in the cooling system. Drain the coolant from the radiator into a suitable container for storage or disposal. The capacity of the cooling system is 22 Liters (5.8 U. S. Gal.)
2. Loosen nut (2) on alternator adjustment rod (1) to loosen the tension on the V-belts. Remove V-belts (3) from the pulley on the alternator.
3. Remove four bolts (4) and six nuts and washers (5) and remove fan guard (6).
4. Remove six nut and washers (7) and fan guard (8)
5. Remove six bolts that hold fan assembly (10) to the fan adapter. Carefully place the fan assembly against the radiator core.. Weight of the fan assembly is 10.5 kg (23.1 lb)
6. Remove six bolts (11) that hold fan adapter (12) to the fan pulley. Remove fan assembly (10) ensuring that blades do not puncture the radiator.
NOTE: The following steps are for the installation of the fan assembly.
7. Carefully put fan assembly (10) in position against the radiator core.
8. Put fan adapter (12) in position on fan pulley and install six bolts (11).
9. Put fan assembly (10) in position on fan adapter (12). Install six bolts (9) and washers that hold it.
10. Reinstall fan guard assembly (8) and (6).
11. Install two V-belts (3) in the pulley on the alternator. Adjust the V-belt tension. See the topic "Fan and Alternator Belts" in the Operation & Maintenance Manual.
12. Fill the cooling system with coolant to the correct level. See the Operation & Maintenance Manual for the correct filling procedure.
