Usage:
- 1 Remove screw and knobs (2).
2. Remove four screws (3), and cover (4).
3. Remove bolts (5), and remove latch (6) from the door.
Install Cab Door Latches And Strikers
1. Install latch (6) and install four bolts (5).
2. Put cover (4) in position on the door, and install four screws (3) that hold it in place.
3. Install knobs (2) and screw (1).
4. Put handle (6) in position, and install the cotter pin that holds it in place.
5. Adjust the cab door and striker as follows:
a. Loosen the bolts in the door hinge, and move the door vertically to the center of the door opening. Close the door, and check the contact between the door seals and the cab around the outside of the door. Adjust the door in or out until the distance between the outside of the door and the cab surface is 16 ± 1 mm (.630 ± .039 in).Tighten the hinge bolts to keep the seal contact and door vertical adjustment.
b. Close the door. Adjust striker (7) so it is vertically on the center of the latch, engages the jaws smoothly and does not move the door up or down. Check for contact horizontally between the striker head and the rotors or latch back plate. There must be no contact. Add or remove shims (8) as necessary.
Primary Latch Position
Secondary Latch Position
c. Check for both secondary and primary latch position. Primary latch position - door is fully closed and latch is fully engaged. Secondary latch position - door latch is engaged, but door is not fully closed. If the door can not be closed to the primary latch position, loosen the striker and adjust it outward until the door can be closed to the primary latch position. Tighten the striker.
d. Check the adjustment of the striker. Push slowly on the door near the latch until the latch engages the striker in the secondary position. Put more pressure on the door until the latch engages in the primary position.
NOTICE |
---|
It is possible to adjust the door so that it is fully closed against the seal with the latch in the secondary position. This is a below standard (substandard) latch position, since the latch does not have as much strength in the secondary position, and must not be permitted. Adjust the door so it will close in the primary latch position. Pressure on the door handle to release the door latch from the primary latch position must not be greater than 45 N (10 lb). |
NOTE: Use only a dry type lubricant on the door latch and striker.
