Personal injury can result from rotating and moving parts. Stay clear of all rotating and moving parts. Never attempt adjustments while the machine is moving or the engine is running unless otherwise specified. The machine must be parked on a level surface and the engine stopped. Attach a "Do Not Operate" or similar warning tag to the start switch and controls before servicing, repairing, or making adjustments to the machine. |
Personal injury or death can result from sudden machine movement. Sudden movement of the machine can cause injury to persons on or near the machine. To prevent injury or death, make sure that the area around the machine is clear of personnel and obstructions before operating the machine. |
Note: The machine is equipped with two drag conveyors. The following procedure can be performed on either conveyor.
- Drive the machine to a smooth, horizontal surface.
- Move propel lever (3) to the NEUTRAL position.

- Rotate speed dial (2) to the MINIMUM position.
- Move parking brake switch (1) to the ON position.
- Move screed lift switch (5) to the FLOAT position. Lower the screed to the ground.
Note: The screed lift switch on the inactive instrument panel must also be in the FLOAT position in order to lower the screed.

- Move hopper switch (4) to the LOWER position. Fully lower the hoppers.
- If the machine is equipped with a manual apron dump, go to Step 8. If the machine is equipped with an optional hydraulic apron dump, go to Step 12.
- Move throttle control switch (6) to the LOW IDLE position. Hold the switch in this position for less than 1 second.

- After the engine reaches low idle, move engine start switch (7) to the OFF position.
- Fully raise and lock apron (8) .
Illustration 4 | g01513414 |
- Go to Step 15.
- Move apron switch (9) to the RAISE position. Fully raise the apron.
Illustration 5 | g01513415 |
- Move throttle control switch (6) to the LOW IDLE position. Hold the switch in this position for less than 1 second.
- After the engine reaches low idle, move engine start switch (7) to the OFF position.
- On the bottom of the drag conveyor, if any part of chain (10) hangs below the level of main frame (11), go to Step 16. If the chain does not require adjustment go to Step 19.

- Remove cotter pin (13) from adjusting rod (14). Remove the adjusting rod from takeup shaft (12) and takeup shaft (15) .
Illustration 7 | g01513418 |
- Alternately adjust takeup shaft (12) and takeup shaft (15) until the sag in the drag conveyor chain is removed. Use adjusting rod (14) in order to turn the takeup shafts counterclockwise until the chain is tight.
Note: Takeup shaft (12) and takeup shaft (15) must be tightened equally.
Note: When the chain is under the correct tension, the bottom of the chain at any point will be level with the bottom edge of the machine frame.
- Replace adjusting rod (14). Install cotter pin (13) .
- Lower the apron.
