Personal injury can result from rotating and moving parts. Stay clear of all rotating and moving parts. Never attempt adjustments while the machine is moving or the engine is running unless otherwise specified. The machine must be parked on a level surface and the engine stopped. Attach a "Do Not Operate" or similar warning tag to the start switch and controls before servicing, repairing, or making adjustments to the machine. |

Personal injury or death can result from sudden machine movement. Sudden movement of the machine can cause injury to persons on or near the machine. To prevent injury or death, make sure that the area around the machine is clear of personnel and obstructions before operating the machine. |

Note: The following procedure describes the steps which are used to check and adjust the auger drive chain on the left side of the machine. The procedure for checking and adjusting the auger drive chain on the opposite side of the tractor is similar.
- Drive the machine to a smooth, horizontal surface.

- Move propel lever (3) to the NEUTRAL position.
- Rotate speed dial (2) to the MINIMUM position.
- Move parking brake switch (1) to the ON position.

- Move screed lift switch (4) to the RAISE position. Completely lift the screed.

- Engage screed lock mechanism (5) on both sides of the machine.
- Move screed lift switch (4) to the FLOAT position.
Note: The screed lift switch on the inactive instrument panel must also be in the FLOAT position in order to lower the screed.

- Move right screed extend switch (7) to the EXTEND position. Release the switch when the right screed extender is fully extended.
- Move left screed extend switch (6) to the EXTEND position. Release the switch when the left screed extender is fully extended.

- Move throttle control switch (8) to the LOW IDLE position. Hold the switch in this position for less than 1 second.
- After the engine reaches low idle, move engine start switch (9) to the OFF position.

- Rotate auger (10) back and forth by using your hand.
- Measure distance (X) that the auger moves along the outside edge of auger flight (10). The measurement should be 6.4 to 13 mm (0.25 to 0.5 inch). If the measurement is outside the specified range, adjust the tension of the auger drive chain by using the following procedure.

- Loosen but do not remove four mounting bolts (11) .

- Loosen locknut (14) .
- Hold lands of threaded rod (12). Turn adjusting nut (13) until the rotation of the auger is within the specified range.
- Tighten locknut (14) .
- Tighten mounting bolts (11) .
