Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids. Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products. Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates. |

Take extreme care to insure the cleanliness of the hydraulic oil. Keep the hydraulic oil clean in order to extend the component life and assure the maximum performance. |
- Apply the parking brake. Turn the engine off.
- Slowly remove the hydraulic tank filler cap (1) in order to relieve the system pressure.

- Open the engine access door on the right side of the machine.

- Remove the filter element. Properly discard the filter element. Clean the filter element mounting base.

- Apply a thin film of oil to the seal of the new oil filter.
- Install the new oil filter by hand. When the seal contacts the base, tighten the filter element for an additional three quarters of a turn.
- Start the engine. Allow the hydraulic oil to warm. Maintain the oil to the level mark on the sight gauge (2). If necessary, add oil.
- Close the engine access door.
