The seals in the 9V-7710 Universal Joints, currently in dealer parts stock inventory, do not meet grease flow requirements. These universal joints are for use on certain Underground Articulated Trucks and Load Haul Dump machines. |
Inspect all 9V-7710 Universal Joints currently in dealer parts stock for white paint mark as shown in picture below, Replace seals in 9V-7710 Universal Joints that are NOT marked with white paint with new 510-5947 Seals. The new seals provide improved grease flow and purging capability.
To replace the seals, refer to Service Magazine M0071332, "Procedure to Rework the Universal Joint on Certain Underground Articulated Trucks and Load Haul Dump Machines". This service magazine article also includes a link to a Caterpillar Channel1 video showing the rework procedure. |
Submit one claim for all 9V-7710 Universal Joints in dealer parts stock that are reworked. Four (4) 510-5947 Seals and .5 hour of labor are allowed for each 9V-7710 Universal Joint that is reworked. |
Handle the parts in accordance with your Warranty Bulletin on warranty parts handling. |
