PROBLEM
The All-Wheel Drive (AWD) hoses routing is not consistent from machine to machine on certain 160M and 14L Motor Graders. This incorrect routing may create hose rubs that will lead to early hour hose failure. |

ACTION REQUIRED
All-Wheel Drive (AWD) hoses should be inspected and updated if needed, to help ensure these hoses are placed in the correct position. Refer to "AWD Hose Adjustment" section in Special Instruction REHS8785. In particular, as outlined in this Special Instruction: - Hose assemblies need to be adjusted correctly and orientated in a downward sloping position. When turning the front of the wheel inward, the hose will flex and move downward clearing the side wall of the tire. - Before the hoses are secured in the retention blocks, verify that there are no hose rubs or interferences. Check for hose rubbing or interference by running the front wheel through the full range of motion: lean, steer, and axle oscillation combinations. - Verify that the hoses are not rubbing significantly on one another or the wheel guard. Also ensure the hose that contains the wiring harness for the AWD motor is placed on top of (above) the top main hydraulic hose for the motor. Refer to Image 1 where the wiring harness for the motor is located inside the hose that is identified with the red arrow. That hose should be located above the main hydraulic hose for the motor (to the right in this picture). Reference: Operation and Maintenance Manual,SEBU9261. |
