CS-551 VIBRATORY COMPACTOR VEHICLE SYSTEMS Caterpillar

1. Install link (1).

2. Use suitable jacks to raise the rear of machine and install tooling (A) as shown.

3. Remove all but the top two nuts from the wheel assembly.

4. Loosen remaining two nuts (3).

5. Using a lift truck or suitable lifting device, support the weight of the wheel assembly and remove two nuts (3). Remove the wheel assembly. The weight of the wheel assembly is 680 kg (1500 lb).

NOTE: The wheel nuts must be tightened to a torque of 610-678 N·m (450-500 lb ft).

NOTE: To install wheel assembly, reverse the removal steps.
