Assemble Propel Pump And Motors

Start By:

a. Make an inspection of the pump shaft, cylinder block, pistons, servo sleeves and servo pistons. Use Piston Pumps And Motors, Form No. SEBF8032-01, as a guide for reusable parts.

NOTE: Lightly coat all parts as they are assembled with clean hydraulic fluid.

1. Put guide (38) in spring (39) and the spring in piston (40). Install the washer and screw that hold the component parts in position.

2. Use tooling (A) to install both bearing cups (37) in the swashplate.

3. Put servo piston (35) in position on the link and install pin (34). Use tool (B) to install the retaining rings on pin (34).

4. Put the link and servo piston in position on the swashplate. Align the hole in the link with the hole in the swashplate ear. Install pin (36) with a hydraulic press.

NOTICE

Put a spacer between the swashplate ears and the link to prevent distortion to the ears while the pin is pressed. Pin (36) must be pressed, if it is driven, the hole in the swashplate may become distorted.

5. Install the retaining rings on pin (36) with tool (B).

6. Install the follow-up link on the swashplate with the pin and retaining ring on each end of the pin.

7. Install swashplate (32) in the case. Make sure the follow-up link is through the opening so it can make connection with the servo control valve linkage.

8. Install thrust washer (31) on the swashplate with the chamfered edge facing down.

9. Install bearing cone (29) on each of the trunnions.

10. Put a thin layer of petroleum jelly on the trunnion O-ring seals. Install the O-ring seal only on the right trunnion.

11. Install both trunnions in the pump case. The left trunnion must be installed without the O-ring seal and lockwashers.

12. Tighten the bolts that hold the right trunnion to a torque of 55 +7 -0 N·m (40 +5 - 0 lb ft). Tighten the bolts that hold the left trunnion to a torque of 11.3 N·m (100 lb in).

NOTE: Make sure the follow-up link is still in the opening for the servo control valve linkage.

13. Use a feeler gauge to check the clearance between the left trunnion and the case. Take this measurement near each bolt. Write down the average measurement between the three bolts.

14. Remove the left trunnion. Install the O-ring seal on the trunnion.

15. Install enough gaskets (shims) (28) to equal the average measurement plus 0.36 mm (.014 in).
