Steering Pump

Usage:

Remove And Install Steering Pump

Start By:

a. remove hydraulic tank

NOTE: Identify all hydraulic lines as they are removed for reinstallation purposes.

1. Remove all hydraulic lines (1) from steering pump (2).

2. Remove the steering pump from the charge pump.

NOTE: For installation of the steering pump, reverse the removal steps.

End By:

a. install hydraulic tank

Disassemble And Assemble Steering Pump

Start By:

a. remove steering pump

NOTE: Before disassembly, scribe a line on the ring, cover and body to insure the proper relationship of parts as they are assembled. Refer to Diagnosing Hydraulic Pump Failures, Form No. SEBD0501, for further information on pump wear or damage characteristics.

1. Remove four bolts (1) and remove the rear cover.

2. Remove plug (2), spring (3), piston (4) and plug (5).

3. Remove plug (10), shims (9), guide (8), spring (7), and piston (6).

4. Remove spring (11) and pressure plate (12).

NOTE: For reassembly purposes, note the vanes must be installed with the rounded edge against the ring.

5. Remove vanes (13) from rotor (14).

6. Remove rotor (14) and ring (15).

7. Remove O-ring (16).

8. Remove snap ring (17) with tooling (A).

9. Place the pump housing in a press, and press the shaft and bearing out.

10. Remove snap ring with tooling (A).

11. If necessary, place the shaft and bearing in a press to remove the bearing from the shaft.

12. Remove seal (21).

NOTE: On installation, seal (21) must be installed with the lip facing the housing.

NOTE: For assembly of the steering pump, reverse the removal steps. Coat all moving parts and contact surfaces with clean hydraulic oil as you assemble the pump.

End By:

a. install steering pump
