Crosshead - Remove and Install

Start By:
- Remove the plunger (piston pump).
- Remove bolts (2) and cover (1) .

- Remove bolts (4) and cover (3) .

- Remove cotter pins (5), nuts (7), and connecting rod cap (8). Remove bolts (9) from connecting rod (6) .

- Gently push connecting rod (6) all the way forward and rotate crankshaft (10) out of the way of connecting rod (6) .

- Remove plug (13) from pin (11) .

- Remove bolts (12) and pin retainer (14) .
- Remove pin (11) from the cross head.
- Rotate crankshaft (10) to provide room to remove connecting rod (6). Remove connecting rod (6) from the frame assembly.

- Use Tooling (A) and a suitable press to remove pin bearing (15). Remove pin bearing (15) from connecting rod (6) .

- Remove bearing (16) from connecting rod. Remove bearing (17) from connecting rod cap (8) .
- Turn crosshead (18) sideways and remove crosshead (18) from the frame assembly.

- Remove stud (19) from crosshead (18) .

- Remove hose assemblies (20) and (21) .

- Remove bolts (23) and guide (22) .

- Repeat Step 3 through Step 14 for the remaining crossheads (8) .
Installation Procedure
- Install crosshead (8) in the reverse order of removal.
- Tighten bolts (23) to a torque of 68 N·m (50 lb ft).
- Tighten stud (19) to a torque of 407 N·m (300 lb ft).
