Crosshead - Remove and Install

Usage:

Start By:

  1. Remove the plunger (piston pump).

  1. Remove bolts (2) and cover (1) .

  1. Remove bolts (4) and cover (3) .

  1. Remove cotter pins (5), nuts (7), and connecting rod cap (8). Remove bolts (9) from connecting rod (6) .

  1. Gently push connecting rod (6) all the way forward and rotate crankshaft (10) out of the way of connecting rod (6) .

  1. Remove plug (13) from pin (11) .

  1. Remove bolts (12) and pin retainer (14) .

  1. Remove pin (11) from the cross head.

  1. Rotate crankshaft (10) to provide room to remove connecting rod (6). Remove connecting rod (6) from the frame assembly.

  1. Use Tooling (A) and a suitable press to remove pin bearing (15). Remove pin bearing (15) from connecting rod (6) .

  1. Remove bearing (16) from connecting rod. Remove bearing (17) from connecting rod cap (8) .

  1. Turn crosshead (18) sideways and remove crosshead (18) from the frame assembly.

  1. Remove stud (19) from crosshead (18) .

  1. Remove hose assemblies (20) and (21) .

  1. Remove bolts (23) and guide (22) .

  1. Repeat Step 3 through Step 14 for the remaining crossheads (8) .

Installation Procedure

  1. Install crosshead (8) in the reverse order of removal.

    1. Tighten bolts (23) to a torque of 68 N·m (50 lb ft).

    1. Tighten stud (19) to a torque of 407 N·m (300 lb ft).
