Conditions Which Generate This Code:

EID 1480 GPS Receiver Antenna Separation Distance Out of Range

Follow this procedure if an event EID 1480 GPS Receiver Antenna Separation Distance Out of Range occurs. This event code is triggered when an autonomous mining truck (AMT) determines the reported distance between the primary and secondary GNSS antenna is no longer at an acceptable distance. When this code is activated, AMT will come to a complete controlled stop. If EID 1480 clears within 30 seconds, the AMT will resume normal operation automatically. If over a given period EID 1480 repeatedly triggers, but automatically clears, this may be a sign of antenna, mast, or cable damage.

Test Step 1. ANTENNA DAMAGE

Every AMT has two GNSS antennas mounted atop a mast on the front of the truck, a primary and a secondary. Inspect BOTH antennas for cracks or breaks on the antenna enclosures or any other obvious signs of damage.

Results:

  • Damaged Antenna found. -

    Repair: Replace the damaged unit.

    STOP

  • No visible damage or looseness discovered. - Proceed to Test Step 2

Test Step 2. ANTENNA MAST DAMAGE

Every AMT has two GNSS antennas mounted atop a mast on the front of the truck.

Inspect BOTH masts:

  • Visible Cracks

  • Obvious Bends

  • Secureness of Mounting to AMT

Results:

  • Damaged Antenna Mast found. -

Repair: Replace the damaged Mast. Then perform the Perception and Positioning calibrations found in Special Instruction, REHS8845, "Autonomous Calibration Procedure for CMD4.1 on the 793F CMD Off-Highway Truck"

    STOP

  • No visible damage or looseness discovered. - Proceed to Test Step 3

Test Step 3. COAXIAL DAMAGE

Both GNSS antennas are connected to the receivers in the Autonomy Cabinet via Coaxial Cables.

  1. Inspect the entire length of BOTH coaxial cables and all connectors from the antennas to the autonomy cabinet interface.

  2. Inspect the length of BOTH coaxial cables and all connectors from the PCS to the inside of autonomy cabinet interface.

Results:

  • Coaxial Damage found on one or more of the cables. -

Repair: Use "Coaxial Best Practice guide" located on the" Publication Box site" for reference on repair of the coaxial cable.

    STOP

  • No visible damage or looseness discovered. The cause of the problem is uncertain. Contact Caterpillar technical support with the information that has been gathered. - STOP
