Camshaft Bearings - Remove and Install

Removal Procedure

Start By:

  1. Remove the camshaft.

  1. Install the sleeve of Tooling (A) into camshaft bearing (1). Install the remainder of Tooling (A).

  2. Install Tooling (B). Remove camshaft bearing (1).

------ WARNING! ------

When you are using hydraulic cylinders and puller studs, always ensure that the rated capacity of the puller stud meets or exceeds the rated capacity of the hydraulic cylinder. If the puller stud does not meet or exceed the rated capacity of the hydraulic cylinder, a sudden failure of the puller stud could occur. The sudden failure of the puller stud could result in personal injury or death.

  1. Install the sleeve of Tooling (A) into camshaft bearing (1). Install the remainder of Tooling (A).

  2. Install Tooling (B) and Tooling (C). Remove camshaft bearing (1).

    NOTICE

    Keep all parts clean from contaminants.

    Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.

  1. Install camshaft bearing (1) onto Tooling (A).

    Note: The camshaft bearing joint must be in the 2 O'clock or the 10 O'clock position. The oil hole must be located on the centerline of the bore.

  2. Position Tooling (A) and camshaft bearing (1) into the bearing bore. Make sure that the groove in the back of camshaft bearing (1) is aligned with oil hole (2) in the cylinder block. Install Tooling (B). Install camshaft bearing (1).

  1. Install camshaft bearing (1) onto Tooling (A).
