Piston Cooling Jets - Remove and Install

Usage:

C175-16 3A9

Removal Procedure

  1. Turn the battery disconnect switch to the OFF position.

  2. If necessary, remove components for access to side covers.

  3. Remove bolts (1). Remove side cover (2).

  4. Rotate the engine to position the piston toward top dead center for easy access. Refer to Testing and Adjusting, "Finding Top Center position for No. 1 Piston".

  5. Remove bolts (3). Remove piston cooling jet (4). Mark the location of dowel (5).

  6. Repeat Steps 2 through 5 for the remaining piston cooling jets.

Installation Procedure

  1. Rotate the engine to position the piston toward top dead center for easy access. Refer to Testing and Adjusting, "Finding Top Center position for No. 1 Piston".

    Note: Point dowel (5) toward the connecting rod as shown. If, dowel (5) is pointed toward the crankshaft main will cause improper spray.

  2. Install piston cooling jet (4) with dowel (5) pointed inward toward the connecting rod. Install bolts (3).

  3. Install side cover (2). Install bolts (1).

  4. If necessary, install components removed for access to side covers.

  5. Repeat Steps 1 through 4 for the remaining piston cooling jets.

  6. Turn the battery disconnect switch to the ON position.
