NOTICE

Keep all parts clean from contaminants.

Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.


Note: Verify that all of the components of the auxiliary drive shaft are clean and free of foreign material prior to installation.

Note: Check all of the O-ring seals and the components for wear or damage. Replace the components, if necessary. Lubricate O-ring seals lightly with the lubricant that is being sealed.

  1. Use Tooling (A) and a hammer in order to install lip seal (35) (not shown) to bearing cage (33). Lightly lubricate lip seal (35) with 1P-0808 Multipurpose Grease .

  1. Use a brass punch and a hammer in order to install roller bearing (34) to bearing cage (33) .

  1. Install O-ring seal (32) to bearing cage (33). Pack bearing cage (33) with 1P-0808 Multipurpose Grease .

  1. Install fitting (31) and the O-ring seal to bearing retainer (13) .

  1. Use Tooling (A) and a hammer in order to install lip seal (30) to bearing retainer (13). Lightly lubricate lip seal (30) with 1P-0808 Multipurpose Grease .

  1. Install dirt guard (29) to yoke (11) .

  1. Install O-ring seal (28) to yoke (11) .

  1. Position spider (27) to the rear section of auxiliary drive shaft (16). Install four new bolts (26) that secure spider (27) to the rear section of auxiliary drive shaft (16). Do not reuse bolts.

  1. Repeat the procedure for each end of the front section of the auxiliary drive shaft.

  1. Attach a suitable lifting sling around the rear section of auxiliary drive shaft (16). Secure the suitable lifting sling to a hoist. Position the rear section of auxiliary drive shaft (16) to the center bracket assembly on the engine end frame. The weight of the rear section of auxiliary drive shaft (16) is 84 kg (185 lb).

  1. Provide adequate clearance between the rear section of the auxiliary drive shaft and the rear pump drive for the torsional coupler. Secure the rear section of auxiliary drive shaft (16) in the center bracket assembly on the engine end frame.

  1. Position hose clamp (24) and hose assembly (25) to the transmission. Install the bolt and the washer that secures hose clamp (24) to the transmission.

  1. Position clamp (22) and wire harness (23) to the transmission. Install the bolt and the washer that secures clamp (22) to the transmission. Connect electrical harness (21) at the electrical connection.

  1. Attach a suitable lifting sling around torsional coupler (18). Secure the suitable lifting sling to a hoist. Position torsional coupler (18) to the rear pump drive. The weight of torsional coupler (18) is 66 kg (145 lb).

  1. Connect hose assembly (19) and hose assembly (20) to the manifold on top of the rear pump drive.

  1. Attach the suitable lifting sling around the rear section of auxiliary drive shaft (16) to a hoist. Position the rear section of auxiliary drive shaft (16) to torsional coupler (18). Install 12 bolts (17) and the washers that secure the rear section of auxiliary drive shaft (16) to torsional coupler (18) .

  1. Position bearing retainer (13) on the bearing cage. Install two bolts (15) that secure bearing retainer (13) to the bearing cage.

  1. Install bearing retainer (13) and the bearing cage to the rear section of the auxiliary drive shaft. Install six bolts (14) that secure bearing retainer (13) and the bearing cage to the center bracket assembly on the engine end frame. Connect grease line (12) to bearing retainer (13) .

  1. Install yoke (11) and the dirt guard to the rear section of the auxiliary drive shaft. Install bolt (9) and retainer (10) that secures yoke (11) to the rear section of the auxiliary drive shaft. Tighten bolt (9) to a torque of 475 ± 60 N·m (350 ± 44 lb ft).

  1. Install hose assembly (8) to the brake valve and the brake accumulator.

  1. Install hose assembly (7) to the high pressure screen. Install hose assembly (6) to the high pressure screen.

  1. Connect hose assembly (7) and (6) to the steering valve. Position hose clamp (5) to hose assembly (6). Install bolt (4), the washers, and the nut that secures hose clamp (5) to hose assembly (6). Close the two door assemblies behind the cab.

  1. Attach a suitable lifting sling around the front section of auxiliary drive shaft (1). Secure the suitable lifting sling to a hoist. Position the front section of auxiliary drive shaft (1) between the front pump drive and the yoke. The weight of the front section of auxiliary drive shaft (1) is 86 kg (190 lb).

  1. Install four new bolts (3) and the washers that secure the front section of auxiliary drive shaft (1) to the yoke. Do not reuse bolts.

  1. Install four new bolts (2) and the washers that secure the front section of auxiliary drive shaft (1) to the yoke on the front pump drive. Do not reuse bolts.

End By:

  1. Connect the frame lock link. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Frame Lock Link - Separate and Connect".
  2. Remove the wheel chocks. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Wheel Chock (Front and Rear) - Remove and Install".
