The operator must observe the outputs in order to determine that the modules (1), (2), and (3) are operating properly.

During the self-test, the operator should observe the following displays:
- Alert indicator (4) flashes.
- Data logging indicator (5) scrolls.
- Universal gauge (6) starts at zero. The gauge then sweeps to full scale. The gauge then displays a value.
- The warning area (7) is on.
- Message area (8) turns every dot ON.
- The action lamp turns ON.
- The action alarm sounds.
- Gauge cluster (1) sweeps from present reading to near zero. The gauge cluster then sweeps to full scale, zero, and to current machine values.
If all checks are correct and fluid levels are correct, the time of day and service meter hours are displayed on message area (8) .
If the test is completed, turn the engine start switch to the START position in order to start the engine.
When the engine is running and no events are present, message area (8) displays the time of day and service hours.
The message center module (3) displays the value of events on the universal gauge (6). The indicated fluid and/or electrical system should be checked as indicated. Make all necessary repairs before starting the engine.
Stop the engine.
Make any necessary repairs before you operate the machine.
