Disconnect the batteries before performance of any service work.

1. Put identification on the electric wires and cables as to their location on the starter. Disconnect wires and cables (1) and (2) from the starter.

2. Remove nut (3) and cover (4).

3. Remove and label 2 wires (5).

NOTE: Two persons may be needed to remove and install the starter because of its weight. A strap fastened around the starter can be used to lift it out of the machine.

4. Remove three bolts (6), and remove the starter from the machine. The weight of the starter is 27 kg (60 lb).

NOTE: Install the starter in the reverse order.
