Engine Oil Pressure Switch - Remove and Install

Removal Procedure


NOTICE

Keep all parts clean from contaminants.

Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.



NOTICE

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.

Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.


  1. Drain the engine oil into a suitable container.

  1. Remove electrical connections (2) from the engine oil pressure switch (1). Note the position of the electrical connections for installation.

  1. Remove oil pressure switch (1) from the cylinder block. Plug the opening immediately.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install oil pressure switch (1) into the cylinder block. Tighten the oil pressure switch to 7 to 12 N·m (62 to 106 lb in).

  1. Connect electrical connections (2) to the engine oil pressure switch (1) .

  1. Fill the engine with oil. Refer to the Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Refill Capacities" for the engine oil capacity.
