Inlet and Exhaust Manifold - Install - 3056 Engine

NOTICE

Clean the flange face of the cylinder head. Install six M10 x 170mm alignment bolts (1) onto the cylinder head. Slide three new gaskets (2) onto the alignment bolts.

Note: The gaskets for the inlet and exhaust manifold do not use a sealing compound.

Place the inlet and exhaust manifold into position on the alignment bolts. Install the inlet hose and the outlet hose. Slide the inlet and exhaust manifold into the final position.

Ensure that all of the bolts are clean. Put 4C-9612 silicone sealant onto the threads of the bolts. Install the bolts into the holes that do not have the alignment bolts. Remove the alignment bolts and install the remainder of the bolts.

Tighten the bolts. Begin at the center of the inlet and exhaust manifold and work toward the ends. Tighten the bolts to a torque of 52 N·m (38 lb ft).

If flange adapter (6) for the outlet hose has been removed, replace O-ring seal (7). Apply 1U-6396 O-Ring Assembly Compound to the O-ring seal before installing into the grooves of the flange adapter. Install the hose for the coolant outlet. Install the hose for coolant inlet (5). Tighten the hose clamps.

Install vent line (3) onto the inlet and exhaust manifold. Install fuel ratio control line (4) onto the inlet and exhaust manifold (if equipped).

End By:

Install the aftercooler. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Aftercooler - Install". For naturally aspirated engines, install the air intake housing.
Install the turbocharger, if equipped. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Turbocharger - Install".
Fill the cooling system. If the engine uses Diesel Engine Antifreeze/Coolant (DEAC), refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Cooling System Coolant (DEAC) - Change". If the engine uses Extended Life Coolant (ELC), refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Cooling System Coolant (ELC) - Change".
