Water Cooled Exhaust Manifolds

Usage:

Remove Water Cooled Exhaust Manifolds

preparatory steps:

a) remove air cleaner housings

b) remove oil cooler bypass valve (right side only)

1. Drain the engine cooling system.

2. To remove left exhaust manifold only, remove left exhaust manifold water inlet line. Remove rear water lines.

3. To remove the right manifold only, remove manifold water inlet elbow (3). Remove oil cooler oil outlet line (2). Install plugs in openings in oil cooler.

4. Remove the exhaust manifold-to-elbow retaining bolts (1).

5. Remove the exhaust manifold front water outlet line (5). Attach a hoist and remove manifold retaining nuts (4) and locks. Remove water cooled exhaust manifold-weight 135 lbs. (61 kg).

Install Water Cooled Exhaust Manifolds

1. Coat the threads of manifold retaining studs and manifold-to-elbow retaining bolts with 9M3710 Anti-Seize Compound. Install new exhaust manifold gaskets.

2. Attach a hoist and position manifold on engine. Install locks and retaining nuts. Install the manifold-to-elbow gasket, mounting bolts, and nuts.

3. Install exhaust manifold front water outlet lines (1).

4. On right manifold only, remove plugs from oil cooler. Install oil cooler oil line (2). Install exhaust manifold water inlet elbow.

5. Install left exhaust manifold water inlet line.

6. Fill the engine cooling system.

concluding steps:

a) install oil cooler bypass valve (right side only)

b) install air cleaner housings
