Fuel Transfer Pump

Usage:

Remove Fuel Transfer Pump

1. Remove fuel bleed line (4) and the hold down clamp.

2. Remove fuel transfer pump inlet line (1), and outlet line (3).

3. Remove the two transfer pump retaining nuts (2).

4. Remove the fuel transfer pump.

Install Fuel Transfer Pump

1. Position the fuel transfer pump (1) on engine, and install retaining nuts.

2. Install the fuel inlet line.

3. Install the fuel outlet line.

4. Install the fuel bleed line and hold down clamp.

Disassemble Fuel Transfer Pump

preparatory step:

a) remove fuel transfer pump

1. Remove the fuel transfer pump cover assembly retaining bolts (1).

2. Remove the cover assembly (2).


NOTICE

Be careful not to damage mating surfaces of cover assembly and pump body.


3. Remove the lock ring (3) from shaft assembly.

4. Remove the gear and shaft assembly (5), and gear (6) from the body assembly.

5. Remove the cage assembly (4) from body assembly.

6. Remove the carbon seal and washer from the cage assembly.

7. Using driver (A), remove the bearing, lip-type seal and retainer from cage.

NOTE: The fuel transfer pump for later machines have two lip-type seals and does not have a carbon seal or retainer.

8. Remove the O-ring seals from cage and retainer.

9. Remove the bearing from the body assembly.

Assemble Fuel Transfer Pump

1. Clean all parts thoroughly before assembling pump.

2. Using driver (A), install bearing (1) in cage (5).

3. Using tool setup (B), install lip-type seal (2) in cage with lip of seal toward the bearing (1).

NOTE: The fuel transfer pump for later machines have two lip type seals. Install the seals to the dimensions shown with the lips of the seals facing as shown.

4. Lubricate and install O-ring seal (4) on retainer (3).

5. Install the retainer (3) in cage assembly (5).

6. Lubricate and install the O-ring seals on the cage (5).

7. Using driver (A), install bearing in body assembly (6).

8. Install the washer in body assembly (6).

9. Apply a thin film of clean oil to the inside diameter of inner rubber ring of the carbon seal.

10. Apply a thin film of clean oil to the wear face of the carbon seal.

11. Position the carbon seal on body assembly (6) and install the cage assembly (5).

12. Cover the square edges of shaft with tape to protect seals. Install the gear and shaft assembly, and gear in the body assembly. Install lock ring.

13. Apply a thin film of 8S6747 Liquid Gasket to face of body assembly.


NOTICE

Do not allow liquid gasket material to enter pump.


14. Install the cover assembly and mounting bolts.

NOTE: After tightening cover assembly mounting bolts, the shaft assembly must rotate freely.

a) install fuel transfer pump
